Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - For the seventh straight year, Newsweek has ranked Mayo Clinic in Rochester at the top of its listing of the World's Best Hospitals.
According to a Mayo Clinic news release, the annual rankings are based on patient survey results, along with an international survey of more than 85,000 healthcare professionals. The list also incorporates key performance metrics, including patient safety, quality of care, and implementation of patient-reported outcomes.

"This continued recognition is a tribute to our dedicated staff who consistently deliver unparalleled, compassionate care to our patients," says Gianrico Farrugia, M.D., president and CEO of Mayo Clinic. "We remain committed to delivering Category-of-One experiences for each patient who seeks our care while simultaneously working to transform healthcare to enable more care and more cures to reach more people."
Newsweek says its rankings covered 2400 hospitals in 30 nations and highlights the top 25 hospitals throughout the world. Besides Mayo Clinic, the other hospitals ranked in the top five are Cleveland Clinic, Toronto General, Johns Hopkins, and Karolinska Hospital in Sweden.
