Palm Beach, FL (KROC AM News) -  President-elect Donald Trump met privately Wednesday with some of the country’s top healthcare executives, including Mayo Clinic CEO Dr. John Noseworthy.

A statement from Mayo Clinic says Noseworthy accepted the invitation “to share his perspective on the future of healthcare delivery, research and excellence.”  The statement added,  “Dr. Noseworthy is pleased for the opportunity to discuss the Mayo Model of Care and Mayo Model of Research as potential roadmaps to excellence in in all of American healthcare and share Mayo Clinic’s views on critical success factors needed to solve our nation’s most pressing and complex health challenges.”

During the presidential campaign, Trump talked of repealing or making significant changes to the Affordable Care Act (ACA), also known as Obamacare.

In an interview with The Washington Post in November, Noseworthy told the newspaper he had already offered his assistance to Trump’s transition team as it considers healthcare changes. In the interview Noseworthy said, “We’re really talking about replace and repair, rather than repeal.”

He added, “Patients are getting frustrated and fearful and anxious that they can't have access to the care that's best suited for them. How can you have a great country if our citizens can't get access to world class health care? It's actually not a bad time to reassess.

Others invited to Wednesday's meeting were the CEOs of Cleveland Clinic, Johns Hopkins and Partners HealthCare.
