It seems like every couple of years there's a new fad diet that everyone is raving about. Remember the baby food diet? People are willing to try just about anything to shed a few pounds. Nowadays, a lot of people swear Keto is the answer, but people were saying the same thing about Atkins and the South Beach diet. Wondering what the experts think? Staff from the Mayo Clinic recently weighed in on fad diets like Keto.

If you have epilepsy or diabetes, you should ask your doctor if Keto is right for you. Mayo says, "as many as half of young people with epilepsy had fewer seizures after following the diet. And some early research suggests it may have benefits for blood sugar control among people with diabetes."

Everyone else might want to reconsider their eating habits unless you don't mind being constipated, suffering with bad headaches, and having bad breath. Those are just a few of the side effects that come with very low carb diets according to Mayo.

Mayo's verdict on Keto: "The high fat content — and especially the high level of unhealthy saturated fat — combined with limits on nutrient-rich fruits, veggies and grains is a concern for long-term heart health.
