Medical Emergency Leads to Discovery of Fire in Rochester Home
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Rochester firefighters happened upon a residential fire while responding to a medical call early today. A news release indicates firefighters were sent an address in southwest Rochester shortly after 2 am to deal with a medical emergency and noticed the smell of something burning in the same area.
The firefighters investigated and discovered light smoke coming from an open upstairs window of a nearby residence at 8 7th Avenue Southwest in the Kutzky Park neighborhood.. A spokesman says they entered the home and found two small fires in an upstairs bedroom that were easily extinguished using water from the home and a pump from their fire engine.
There were no injuries and the cause of the fires is under investigation. The news release also notes the firefighters installed two smoke detectors in the residence to supplement the detectors already in place.
