New Hope, MN (Learfield Wire Services)- Minnesota state regulators have cited St. Therese Nursing Home in New Hope and five of its staff for mistreating two elderly patients last year.
Investigators determined an 85-year-old patient with a severe cognitive disability was punched repeatedly, causing visible injuries. The citations are based mostly on hidden-camera footage shot after the daughter of one of those patients questioned some bruises.
Eight workers at the home were dismissed for failing to report abuses and for using cell phones while they were in patient rooms. Criminal charges have been filed against two more employees.
