UNDATED (KROC-AM News) - There were at least two fatal crashes in Minnesota on Saturday and both occurred next to schools.

The State Patrol is reporting that the first incident happened around 1:30 PM in the central Minnesota town of Ogilvie. The preliminary crash report indicates the driver of an SUV was killed when the vehicle went through an intersection just north of the entrance to Ogilvie High School and crashed into the ditch.

The State Patrol says 50-year-old Lafayette Raheem of St. Louis Park was alone in the vehicle and was not seat-belted. The incident report says alcohol was not involved.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, at the junction of Highway 47 and Highway 23.

The second fatality involved in a pedestrian.

The State Patrol says a 28-year-old St. Louis Park man was struck by a car driven by 23-year-old Cecelia Schmelzle of St. Louis Park as she was traveling east on Highway 7 in Hopkins at a busy intersection adjacent to Eisenhower Elementary School. The name of the victim has not been released.

The deadly collision was reported just before 9:30 PM.

The State Patrol report states that alcohol was not detected in the driver of the car, who was not injured.
