Kenosha, WI (KROC-AM News) - Authorities in Wisconsin are reporting the results of a drug trafficking investigation that reads like a Hollywood movie script.

A suspicious package of rollerblades set the investigation in motion.

The Kenosha County Sheriff's Department is reporting that it was contacted in late February by the federal Department of Homeland Security concerning a package that was intercepted while it was being shipped from Bogotá, Columbia to the City of Kenosha. A news release says the package contained a set of Canariam Rollerblades.

Officials say the rollerblade wheels were deemed to be suspicious.

The news release indicates that after a series of tests, it was determined that the wheels had been infused with a gelatin-like substance that tested positive for cocaine.

That led to a joint investigation by the Kenosha Drug Operations Group and the Department of Homeland Security. The news release indicates investigators arranged for the controlled delivery of the package and a search warrant for a residence in Kenosha once it arrived and was accepted by someone in the home.

The Sheriff's Office says the law enforcement raid resulted in the seizure of a bit over a kilogram of cocaine along with nearly $3,400 in cash.

Investigators also seized money transfer documents from Kenosha to Bogotá that totaled over $30,000, along with "numerous forged documents including false permanent resident alien cards, Social Security cards, and the Columbia identification cards.”

The investigation is ongoing.
