Body of Missing Rochester Man Found in NE Iowa River
New Albin, IA (KROC-AM News) - There has been a tragic ending in the search for a missing Rochester man.
Tragic End to Search
Authorities in northeastern Iowa today announced that the body of 34-year-old Don Allen Watson has been recovered from the Upper Iowa River, about five miles south of the Minnesota-Iowa border and about 15 miles south of Caledonia.
Reported Missing Last Week
A news release issued by the Allamakee County Sheriff's Office says a vehicle registered to Watson was located in the early morning hours of April 19 at Wild Landing. A check of the vehicle indicated that its owner had been missing since April 16.

Extensive Search Effort
That led to a search of the area and the nearby Upper Iowa River. The initial search was unsuccessful, but while the Sheriff's Office was searching the river on Monday, an individual contacted authorities just before noon and reported finding a body. The discovery was at a site about three miles downriver from where the Rochester man's vehicle was found.
No Indications of Foul Play
The news release says his death remains under investigation, but foul play is not suspected.
