New Trial Date in Rochester Murder Case
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Another trial date has been set in a Rochester murder case.
Jury selection is now scheduled to begin the week after Thanksgiving in the case of 31-year-old Muhidin Abukar. His trial, which had already been delayed due to the pandemic, was originally scheduled to begin the first week of May but was postponed due to a scheduling conflict.
Abukar is charged with second-degree murder for his alleged involvement in the murder of Garad Roble. The 28-year-old Rochester man was found shot to death along a rural southeast Rochester road in the early morning of March 5th, 2019. A second man charged in the case, Ayub Iman, has yet to enter a plea to the murder charge he faces.
Abukar was convicted of second-degree murder for a fatal shooting in Rochester in 2009. In that case, Abukar was given a 14-year prison sentence for the death of 32-year-old Ryan Nissalke.
