The parents of 17-year old Cassidy Sandstrom, who died in the collision, say in an email to family and friends that she ran to the front of the bus when she saw driver Max Danner slump over the wheel. The dead girl's parents say other students told them Cassidy then ushered kids to the back of the bus to try to get them out, and attempted to unbuckle the driver's seat belt as she tried to get the bus off the tracks before the train hit them.

Danner's twin brother says he had previous heart problems and recently received a pacemaker.
