Walker, MN (MinnesotaNow)- A motorcyclist from the Twin Cities lost his life after being ran over by a semi near the shores of Leech Lake.

The State Patrol responded to the fatality shortly before 4 p.m. on Thursday. Both drivers were the only people involved. 

The fatal crash occurred on Hwy. 371 near Walker close to the southwestern shore of Leech Lake.

30-Year-Old Twin Cities Motorcyclist Dies After Semi Makes "Sudden Maneuver," Runs Him Over

The State Patrol says the semi was heading south on the highway when it made a sudden maneuver to the right shoulder towards the motorcycle. 

That caused the motorcycle to hit the cable median barrier and resulted in the motorcycle operator being run over by the rear of the semi, according to the state crash report. 

30-year-old Roy John Berger of Vadnais Heights was identified as the motorcycle driver. He was pronounced dead at the scene and transported to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office, the State Patrol says. 

Truck Driver Avoids Injury

33-year-old Timothy William Hall of Emlenton, PA was identified as the driver of the semi. The State Patrol says he escaped the fatal crash without injuries.

Alcohol was not involved in the fatality. The state crash report also says Berger was wearing a helmet and that Hall was buckled up.
