North Mankato, MN (MinnesotaNow)- Police in North Mankato have identified the 17-year-old boy who died in a shooting that preceded a crash over the Memorial Day Weekend.

Officers responded to the report of a shooting shortly after 11:00 Saturday night. 

Shortly after getting the shooting call, law enforcement learned a vehicle had crashed into a townhome.

17-Year-Old Boy Shot in North Mankato Dies After Crashing into Townhome

The shooting was reported in the area of Pleasant View Dr. and Willow Ln. The townhome struck by the vehicle is located on Willow Tr. 

Officers responding to the crash found a teenage boy in the vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound. 

First responders took life-saving measures and took the teen to the Mayo Clinic hospital in Mankato where he died from his injuries, a news release issued by North Mankato Police says. 

Teen Victim in North Mankato Homicide Identified

On Monday, authorities identified the homicide victim as Tyson Michael Goodsell of North Mankato

Police initially said the deadly shooting was not believed to have been random. 

Investigators had asked anyone with information related to the homicide or a silver 2010 Chevrolet Impala possibly seen in the area to contact the North Mankato Police Department at 507-625-7883 and ask to speak with Lt. Brian Gangelhoff. 

The investigation remains ongoing as of Tuesday morning, North Mankato Police say.
