Oronoco Woman Charged With Causing Fatal Crash
Hastings, MN (KROC-AM News) - An Oronoco woman is facing felony charges stemming from a deadly traffic crash near Cannon Falls. The Dakota County Attorney’s Office says 56-year-old Lori Hoefs is facing one count each of Criminal Vehicular Homicide and Criminal Vehicular Operation for allegedly causing a crash that killed 78-year-old Brenda Travis of Rochester and seriously injured three other people
Hoefs admitted she was using her cell phone when she drove through a stop sign at a rural intersection along Highway 56. Her vehicle ended up collided with a car headed north on Highway 56 on the morning of October 22nd, 2016. Travis, who was in the passenger seat of the other car, was fatally injured.
An initial court appearance for Hoefs is scheduled on the morning of August 6th in Hastings.
