Overnight Fire in Southern Minnesota Claims 2 Lives
Montgomery, MN (KROC-AM News) - The State Fire Marshal has been called to investigate a deadly house fire in Le Sueur County.
The Sheriff's Office says the fire was reported around 1 AM at a rural home near Montgomery. The 911 call was from one of the victims who reported that she and her husband were trapped in the burning home.

Heat and heavy smoke coming from the residence provided the first deputy to arrive at the scene from getting inside the residence. The Sheriff's Office reported that, soon after, members of the Montgomery Fire Department came to the scene and found the two victims in the kitchen area of the house.
Life saving efforts were attempted once the couple was removed from the home, but they were unsuccessful and the man and woman were pronounced dead at the scene.
They have been identified as 76-year-old Roman and 73-year-old Betty Jindra.
