Henderson, MN (KROC-AM News) - People are being advised to steer clear of the site of a train derailment in southern Minnesota.
Train Derailment in the Le Sueur County
The Le Sueur County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that a Union Pacific Railroad train left the tracks around 2:40 a.m. According to Sheriff Brett Mason, the railroad informed authorities that the derailment occurred on tracks just north of Henderson near Highway 19 and Henderson Station Road.
Railcars Carrying Methane and Propane Involved
A news release says eight railcars derailed, and some of them were carrying liquid methane, while others were transporting propane and grain. Union Pacific Railroad reported to the Sheriff’s Office that none of the railcars loaded with methane or propane were leaking, although some grain had spilled from several of the railcars.
No Injuries Reported
Sheriff Mason says no response was needed from local fire or emergency medical services, and no injuries were reported.
The news release says Union Pacific advised the Sheriff’s Office that the railroad’s response team would be handling the cleanup.
