Pilot walks away from Fillmore County plane wreck

A South Dakota man suffered just minor injuries after crashing a small airplane in Fillmore County Saturday afternoon.

The Fillmore County Sheriff’s Department says the 63 year old was flying home from Wisconsin when his plane developed mechanical problems.  The pilot tried landing the plane in an open field near the town of Mabel but hit some trees instead.   The plane was a Preceptor N3 Pup model, described as an ultralight, homebuilt aircraft.
