The complaint says an officer spotted Mohamed in a vehicle parked in a stall on the east side of 1st Ave. SW. The driver’s door was partially ajar and Mohamed was slumped over in the driver’s seat.

Mohamed then pulled out of the spot, traveled north to 2nd St. SW where he made a right turn without the vehicle’s taillights on.

The officer followed and attempted a traffic stop but Mohamed, who had turned onto South Broadway Ave., did not slow down, the charges say.

Mohamed continued southbound on Broadway at an estimated speed of more than 90 mph. The Rochester man, who the complaint says was unable to maintain the lane he was in, at one point struck the median before making a left turn onto eastbound Hwy. 14.

While pursuing Mohamed, the officer saw Mohamed run a red light at the intersection of Hwy. 14 and 11th Ave. SE and nearly hit a vehicle, the court document says.

The officer discontinued the pursuit, however police later found the vehicle in the 900 block of 21st Ave. SE.

Mohamed was still in the vehicle and backed into the officer’s squad car, the charges say.

He then pulled forward and collided with multiple HVAC systems, before colliding with a second squad vehicle.

The charges say officers ordered Mohamed out of the vehicle, which had become disabled after the crash, at gunpoint.

Booze Found in Vehicle

He initially refused commands but eventually got out and was taken into custody. Officers noticed the odor of an alcoholic beverage and spotted an open bottle of tequila in the vehicle, the complaint says.

Mohamed was brought to St. Mary’s Hospital for an evaluation before being taken to the Olmsted County Jail. Investigators obtained a blood sample from Mohamed that has been sent to the state crime lab for testing.

Mohamed made his first court appearance Monday morning. His conditional bail was set at $5,000 and he’s due back in court next month.
