Prescription Drug Takeback Happening Today in Rochester, Across Minnesota
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office is among the more than 50 Minnesota law enforcement agencies participating in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day today.

The purpose of the event is to give community members a chance to get rid of old, unused or no-longer-needed prescription drugs by dropping them off to law enforcement for safe disposal. Authorities say the take-back event prevents those drugs from falling into the wrong hands.
Olmsted County residents can drop off their unused, expired or unwanted prescription drugs to the Mayo Clinic Gonda building between 9am and 1 p.m. today. The collection area is located at the drop-off circle on 3rd Ave. Southwest.
There’s also a 24/7 drop box located at the Olmsted County Law Enforcement Center in Downtown Rochester. The D.E.A. says the event has helped law enforcement dispose of more than 15 million pounds of medications since the event started in September of 2010.
