Duluth, MN (KROC AM News) - The largest natural gas supply pipe in Duluth has been damaged and thousands of residents are being asked to turn down their thermostats until it’s fixed.

Which may take all weekend.

The pipe was damaged Thursday and repairs were expected to continue through the weekend. The city public works department says “reducing thermostats helps make sure that all businesses and homes are able to heat with the gas remaining in the system. Without customer assistance neighborhoods are at risk of a full gas shutoff.”

The city has asked customers in the affected area to lower their thermostats to 62 degrees until further notice.

Temperatures are expected to range from 5 - 20 degrees (ABOVE zero) through Sunday.
