Rochester Carjacker Has Long Criminal Record

Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - The man arrested this week for a Rochester carjacking is no stranger to police.

Court records show Mohamed Mumin has a criminal history dating back to 2011 when he was in his teens. He is now 23 and has a record that includes cases in Rochester and the Twin Cities involving felony assault, robbery, burglary and motor theft.

He was sentenced to 15 months in prison two years ago.

In June this year, he was sentenced in Olmsted County Court to 4 years in prison for a stolen vehicle/DUI case. The judge stayed the prison term and placed Mumin on probation for 7 years.

He is now facing robbery charges as a result of the carjacking involving a Rochester woman Wednesday night. She was giving Mumin and two other men a ride when he ordered her out of the vehicle, threatening to “blow her brains out.” He was located later that night and arrested.

He was arraigned Thursday and bail was set at $350,000.
