Rochester Chamber of Commerce Asking Walz to Allow Indoor Dining
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Rochester Area Chamber of Commerce has joined a chorus of business owners and business groups in expressing disappointment with Governor Tim Walz's decision to limit bars and restaurants to serving patrons in outdoor seating.
Chamber President Kathleen Harrington sent a letter to the organization's members today assuring them the Chamber of Commerce is advocating strongly for an immediate reconsideration of the decision. The revised executive order announced by the governor yesterday allows bars and restaurants to serve food and beverages to a maximum of 50 customers at a time outdoors with the parties separated by at least six feet.
Harrington also stated the Chamber is working closely with the Rochester Downtown Alliance, the destination Medical Center organization, and the City of Rochester to develop a simple method for restaurants to create outdoor dining options. At this point, information about those possible options has not been publicly released.
The Chamber of Commerce is planning to hold another webinar next week to provide business owners with information on how they can ensure they are in compliance with the latest pandemic regulations.
