Rochester Chick-fil-A Shooting Suspect Appears in Court
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The man accused of a fatal shooting earlier this month in a Rochester shopping center parking lot made his initial appearance this morning in Olmsted County Court.
20-year-old Isaac Gutierrez is charged with two counts of second-degree murder and a single count of second-degree assault in connection with the death of 24-year-old Osbel Ornelas of Rochester. He is accused of shooting the victim in the back of the head in the parking lot at Crossroads Shopping Center near the Chik-fil-A restaurant on the afternoon of February 3.
The criminal complaint alleges the fatal shooting occurred while the victim and the older brother of Gutierrez were fighting in the parking lot in an altercation that Rochester police described as a road rage incident. The brother, 26-year-old Jose Gutierrez Ojeda has been charged with second-degree assault in the case and is scheduled to make his initial court appearance on Thursday.
At today's court hearing, the attorney representing Isaac Gutierrez requested an omnibus hearing, which is been scheduled on February 27. The 20-year-old Rochester man remains in the Olmsted County Jail on $1 million conditional bail.
