Rochester Man Accused of Starting Fire in Olmsted County Jail
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- A Rochester man is expected to face charges for allegedly starting a fire in the Olmsted County Adult Detention Center Friday afternoon.

Olmsted County Sheriff’s Captain James Schueller said 45-year-old Devon Sackett is expected to face charges for felony property damage and possibly 3rd-degree arson. Sackett is also accused of tearing off a sprinkler head and using it to smash out a half-inch thick plexiglass window in a different part of the jail.
Schueller said Sackett had obtained a paper clip and started a fire in a cell in the Intake Segregation Unit of the jail by arching the paperclip in an outlet around 1:14 p.m. He said Sackett then broke out the window when he was transferred to a booking cell after the fire started.
Schueller said Sackett had also threatened jail staff. Sackett is already facing charges for allegedly threatening an Olmsted County Detention Deputy several times in November.
Sackett was arraigned on a felony threats charge in that case and his bail was set at $20,000. Sackett was originally booked into the Olmsted County Adult Detention Center on November 17 on suspicion of fourth-degree assault of a peace officer, fifth-degree criminal sexual conduct and disorderly conduct, Schueller said.
Sackett is awaiting arraignment for the property damage and possible arson charge. Schueller said the damaged wires and shattered window total well over $1,000 in damages.
