Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A former Rochester police investigator who has been charged with criminal sexual conduct is in more trouble.

He is now accused of trying to get the alleged victim to “change her story.”

Two felony charges of tampering with a witness have been filed against 43-year-old Joshua Laber, who has a Rochester address. He was arraigned Monday and his new bail was set at $20,000.

Laber was charged last year after a juvenile reported inappropriate touching. The victim also reported finding a camera in the bathroom after taking a shower. A police investigator also searched Laber’s laptop and found numerous images of child porn.

Rochester police recently became aware of Laber’s alleged communication with the victim and an investigator talked with her last week.

It was determined Laber had been communicating with the victim in March and April. An investigator was told Laber said the “victim should talk to someone about changing her story.”

The complaint says Laber “began to make suicidal comments and saying that he would be watching Victim from above.”

Laber served 9 years with RPD before resigning in 2015. He is scheduled to attend a court hearing for the 2020 case on Friday.
