Rochester Man Gets Jail Time in Robbery and Assault Case

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man has been sentenced to 90-days in jail for his involvement in what police described as a gun-related robbery. 25-year-old Steven Voeun was also given a 33-month stayed prison term and was placed on probation for 10-years. He previously pleaded guilty to a felony simple robbery charge through a plea agreement that resulted in the dismissal of three other felony counts, including second-degree assault and first-degree aggravated robbery.

He was accused of participating in an attack on a then 23-year-old man during a party at a northwest Rochester home last April. The victim was robbed of several hundred dollars and was threatened by having a rifle pointed at him by one of his attackers. Police reports indicate Voeun was suspected of being the person with the gun.

Another man charged in the case was given an over six-year prison sentence after he was convicted of first-degree aggravated robbery. 24-year-old Emanuel Alfred’s criminal history includes an attempted murder conviction in 2010.
