Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A man who freaked out a Rochester couple when he barged into their apartment and assaulted one of the victims has been sentenced to prison.

Police say the incident happened March 1st when 35-year-old Richard Souhrada knocked on the door of an apartment rented by a 66-year-old man and his 64-year-old wife.

Souhrada told the couple they were being evicted and to leave. As the man in the apartment started closing the door, Souhrada knocked him down and punched him in the face. When he left, the victims called 911. Officers arrived to find some other tenants detaining Souhrada and he was arrested.

He pleaded guilty Wednesday under a Norgaard plea, which means he claims he has no memory of what he did.  He was given a 50-month prison sentence.

Court records show Souhrada was given a 39-month prison sentence in 2018 for an assault conviction involving a 6-year-old boy in Austin. He was accused of becoming upset with the boy and throwing him against a wall. The boy suffered a broken arm.
