
Multiple Changes to Downtown Rochester Parking Rates Now In Effect
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- The start of the year has brought multiple changes for Rochester’s downtown parking system that are now in effect.

In 2024, the Rochester City Council was presented with a study that recommended changes to the city’s parking rates for both ramp and on street spaces.
A news release issued by the city says the changes will support the long-term financial stability of the parking program.

Elected leaders adopted the changes in Dec. of 2024. Some of the changes are expected to take several months to implement due to the upcoming winter and different parking meter technology on the downtown’s streets, city officials say.

Changes for Parking Rates in Downtown Rochester Now in Place
Parking will remain free in the city’s ramps for under an hour. The charge for an hour and a half of parking would drop a dollar from the current $3 dollar fee with another dollar added each half hour until the charge would reach $8 dollars after 4 1/2 hours of parking.
Parking in a ramp for five hours would remain at $10. The price will jump to $12 for 5 1/2 hours of parking with another two dollars added to bring the cost of a 6-12 hour ramp stay to $ 16.
The daily maximum of $18 for 12 or more hours of parking, which is up from the 2024 maximum of $16.
New Metered Parking Rates on Rochester, MN Street Take Effect
New three hour rates for metered parking along streets in downtown Rochester are now in effect. The hourly parking rate for meters well within the downtown area is $2, up from an hourly rate of $1.50 last year.

Parking meters stationed on the edge of downtown Rochester will no longer have a time limit.
Rates for monthly parking and residential permit parking are not changing in the news year.
