Officials say the worst of the storm is expected to arrive on Wednesday. The National Weather Service has moved the timeline up for a Winter Storm warning, which is underway and set to expire at noon on Thursday. An additional 9-14 inches of snow is possible through Thursday.

The forecast calls for strong winds and the potential for sleet and freezing rain to accompany the snow. Officials warn the winds and snow could significantly reduce visibility and make travel difficult to impossible during the Winter Storm Warning.

The State Patrol is asking Minnesotans to stay home if possible. Those who need to travel are urged to allow for extra time, slow down and have an emergency kit in their vehicle.
