Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Several Rochester police officers and Olmsted County deputies were involved in Tuesday night’s capture of a burglary suspect.

Deputies were first sent to a residence in the 600 block of 44th Ave Court SW around 10:45 after a woman called to report a man had just entered her home and ran off with her purse. The woman’s husband ran after him but he got away. The man had gained entry through an unlocked patio door. The home is on the west side of West Circle Drive, north of the former Meadow Lakes golf course.

As officers were checking the area, a nearby homeowner reported someone had tried to break into his home earlier in the evening.

A few minutes later, police were contacted by a homeowner on the other side of Circle Drive in the 3200 block of Fox Hollow Lane in the Foxcroft neighborhood. The homeowner said he had just spotted a man in his attached garage. The man fled with a jacket he took from the garage but was caught by police a short distance away.

The man has been identified as 24 year old Janarie Payton of Rochester.
