Rochester Police Nab Suspected Window Peeker
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester man described by police as a perennial window peeker is apparently at it again
Police Captain John Sherwin says patrol officers who were aware 61-year-old Rickford Munger was involved in two suspected window peeking incidents earlier this week spotted his car near Mayo High School (1400 block of 10th Ave SE) around 4 a.m. Wednesday. They found him near some apartments and took him into custody. His cellphone was seized and is being checked for evidence.
Sherwin says a woman called 911 early Sunday from the 300 block of 6th St NW after spotting a strange man outside her bedroom window. She said he was recording her with his cellphone. She was able to get a good description of the man before he fled.
The other incident happened late Monday night in the 600 block of 2nd St NW. A man spotted Munger trying to peek into the window of a house and was able to hold him until officers arrived. There was not enough evidence to arrest Munger that time so he was released.
Munger has a history of window-peeking incidents on his record and is expected to face new charges as a result of this latest one.
He was sentenced to three years in prison in 2013 for violating a requirement to file with law enforcement as a predatory offender. He is facing sentencing next week in Fillmore County for a similar violation.
