Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- Two Rochester police officers were struck by a vehicle while they were outside of their squad vehicle Sunday night.

A brief statement released by the department’s Communications Coordinator Amanda Grayson says the officers were responding to a call for service when they were hit.

The incident occurred in the 2300 block of Elton Hills Dr. in northwest Rochester around 9:10 p.m.

Rochester Officers & SUV Struck by 18-Year-Old Driver on Elton Hills Dr. NW in Rochester

A crash report published by the State Patrol Monday Morning says a Honda SUV traveling west on Elton Hills Dr. struck a Chevy SUV and two officers on foot. 

The officers, identified as 51-year-old James Michael Logan and 22-year-old Preston Satzke were taken to St. Mary’s Hospital. Their injuries were described as non-life-threatening, according to the State Patrol. 

18-year-old Najmo Nuno Khalif was identified as the Honda driver. The State Patrol says the Rochester teen and his passenger were not hurt. 

41-year-old Byron Dwayne Campbell of Austin, TX was identified as a passenger in the Chevy SUV. He was not injured but was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital following the crash, the State Patrol says. 

Olmsted County Jail records indicate Campbell was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic assault. The state crash report does not identify the driver of the Honda. 

Alcohol was not involved in the crash and the road had snow and ice on it, the state crash report says. The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office, Mayo Clinic Ambulance and the Rochester Fire Department also responded to the crash.
