Rochester Smash-And-Grab Burglar Makes Off With Jewelry, Cash
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- The Rochester Police Department says a citizen is missing valuable property following a smash-and-grab burglary over the weekend.
Rochester Police Captain Casey Moilanen said the burglary is believed to have occurred sometime between 8 p.m. Friday and 9 p.m. Sunday.
The victim reported coming home Sunday night and seeing the window on her home’s back door had been smashed.
The burglary was reported at an apartment in the 10 block of 6th Ave. Southeast. Moilanen said it appeared the suspect or suspects used a brick to smash through the window and gain entry into the home.
The victim said it appeared her apartment had been gone through. She reported a safe, a jewelry box that contained jewelry, shoes, a Playstation and about $270 in cash had been stolen from her residence.
A total dollar value for the property reported stolen was not available as of Monday morning. So far no arrests have been made.
The Sunday night burglary was the third burglary reported to police in Rochester over the weekend. On Saturday, Officers responded to a garage and vehicle burglary at a residence south of the smash-and-grab burglary on 6th Ave. Southeast.

A man on Sunday morning also reported someone had stolen $1800 in tools from his opened garage in the 700 block of Elton Hills Dr. Northwest. So far no arrests have been made in those burglaries.
