Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester woman accused of pinning a man against a building with a vehicle earlier this year has been sentenced to two years on probation.

26-year-old Miriam Adiga today entered Norgaard pleas to gross misdemeanor counts of criminal vehicular operation and fifth-degree assault. In exchange, two DWI-related charges connected to the incident and two felony assault charges stemming from a separate domestic violence case were dismissed. By entering the Norgaard pleas, Adiga admits she is guilty but doesn't clearly remember her actions because she was intoxicated.

The criminal complaint against Adiga says the victim was employed as a security guard at the 4S Entertainment business in the 3500 block of Wellner Drive Northeast when an SUV driven by Adiga jumped the curb and pinned him against the wall of an adjoining business in the early morning hours of February 19. The court document says the front bumper and grill of the vehicle were pressed against the man's legs and lower torso. The victim told Rochester Police he could hear the driver swearing at him from inside the vehicle when he called 911 while still pinned against the building.

The victim, who suffered minor injuries during the incident, indicated the incident occurred just moments after he struggled to get a group of intoxicated females to leave the business because it was past closing time. The criminal complaint says Adiga eventually backed up and released the security guard. She then drove to the entrance of 4S Entertainment, where another woman got into the driver's seat before police arrived at the scene.

One of the responding officers spotted Adiga in the passenger seat of the SUV and asked her to get out of the vehicle. He described her speech as slurred and detected the odor of alcohol on her breath. The court record also states that the officer had to support Adiga after she almost fell over several times while she was being interviewed by police.
