Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) – A Rochester woman was arrested Wednesday evening after making a wrong turn in the downtown - through the Peace Plaza.

Police say 61-year-old Cheryl Melton was driving north on 1st Ave SW around 6:30 PM when she turned left onto the western half of the Peace Plaza.

She continued driving towards the Gonda Building until her car became stuck between a concrete pylon and the Grand Kahler Hotel building. Witnesses says she began gunning the motor in an effort to break loose and one reached in and grabbed her keys.

According to the police report, Melton admitted she had been drinking. A breath test measured her blood/alcohol level at .22  Melton was arrested on two DWI charges.
