Truman, MN (KROC-AM News)- Authorities in southern Minnesota are looking for a shooting suspect.

Law enforcement responded to the small-town shooting shortly before 6:15 Thursday night. 

The incident was originally reported as a domestic assault. Investigators have identified a suspect and believe he fled the scene.

Martin County, MN Sheriff's Office Searching for Suspect in Small Town Shooting, Vehicle Description Released

A news release issued by the Martin County Sheriff’s Office Friday morning says deputies responded to the domestic assault report in Truman, which has a population of just under 1,100 people.

Responding deputies found an adult female suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. She was brought to a hospital and an update on her condition is not available. 

Investigators secured a pistol, suspected of being used in the shooting, at the scene and identified the shooting suspect as 32-year-old Kyle Jonathan Liford

He’s believed to have fled the scene, possibly in a green 2002 Chevy Tahoe with a Minnesota license plate reading NVU-782. A description of the suspect has not been released.

Liford’s location is not known as of Friday morning. Authorities are calling the shooting an isolated incident and say there is not a threat to the public. 

Anyone information regarding Liford’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Martin County Sheriff’s Office at 507-238-4481.
