St. Paul Cop Charged With Forgery
A St. Paul police officer faces three forgery-related charges for allegedly using someone else's identity to funnel money to a man in prison.
Thirty-eight-year-old Ruby Diaz is charged in Hennepin County. She's a school resource officer at Humboldt High School and was placed on leave.
The complaint says that while police were investigating a shooting, they discovered Diaz had a relationship with Ramone Smaller, who was imprisoned after pleading guilty to third-degree attempted murder. Authorities say she sent him money under a different name.
Diaz's phone number isn't listed. It unknown if she has an attorney.
Smaller was charged Friday with new 10 counts in what authorities called gang-related shootings in St. Paul last fall.
