from the State Farm insurance company.  The Minnesota prediction is down from 1 in 80 a year ago. This year’s forecast puts Minnesota 8th on the list of all 50 states, down from 6th place last year.

State Farm predicts there will be more than 37,500 deer/motor vehicle collisions in the state this year.

For the 8th straight year, West Virginia leads all states with odds of 1 in 39.  Hawaii is at the bottom with the highly unlikely odds of 1 in 10,000.

Iowa is ranked 4th this year, Wisconsin 7th.

State Farm says the national average cost for a car/deer collision claim this year is just under $3900, up 14 percent from last year.

State Farm says the majority of car/deer collisions are reported during the final three months of the year due to breeding and hunting seasons.
