Stewartville, MN (KROC-AM News)- The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office has provided an update on a high school wrestler who was wounded by a shooter in the Stewartville High School parking lot Friday morning.

Authorities have also released the name of the suspected gunman, who was found dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Officials said the victim, described as a juvenile male, was shot while walking to a bus that was set to transport the Stewartville wrestling team to a meet in Grand Forks. The shooting occurred around 5 a.m.

The victim’s family says as of Sunday night, that the student athlete remains in the hospital in critical but stable condition. His name will not be released, a news release published by the sheriff’s office says.

Authorities identified the gunman as 19-year-old Logan Moyer of Stewartville. Moyer graduated from Stewartville High School in 2024 and was a member of the Stewartville wrestling team during his time in school.

The news release also says Moyer was not a coach, volunteer or paid staff member of the Stewartville wrestling team.
An autopsy conducted by the Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner is ongoing, however the preliminary results are consistent with the initial determination that Moyer died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, the news release says.
The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office says the investigation remains ongoing and active.
Stewartville Students Return to Classes on Monday
Classes resumed at the Stewartville School District on Monday. Classes on Friday were canceled following the shooting.
The district is running their late start schedule and students are encouraged to wear Stewartville Tiger gear to display Tiger pride and Tiger strength.
“We are sharing our prayers for courage, strength, and healing as we come together as a Tiger Family in the coming days and weeks,” a post on the Stewartville School District’s Facebook page says.
