The gusty winds that accompanied the snowstorm and created whiteout conditions earlier today are still making travel very treacherous and parts of southern Minnesota. The Minnesota Department of Transportation is recommending against any travel on highways in areas west of Albert Lea and Waseca, including I-90.
As of 5 PM, driving conditions in the Rochester area were improving, but many major highways remained partially or even completely snow covered. The list of completely covered highways included Highway 63 south of Spring Valley, and Highway 30 both east and west of Stewartville.
