St. Charles Mayor Will Not Seek Reelection

Longtime Saint Charles Mayor Bill Spitzer has decided not to seek another term in the office he has held since 2005.  Spitzer’s tenure as Mayor of the Winona County community has included some very challenging times, including a devastating flood in 2007 and the 2009 fire that wiped out the North Star Foods, the city’s largest private employer.

“It’s time for a change,” commented Mayor Bill Spitzer.   “Every organization needs to evolve and this seemed like the appropriate time to move on to my next challenge”

The Rochester native is also a Deputy with the Winona County Sheriff’s Department and is currently the chair of the Minnesota High Speed Rail Commission.
