Southeast Rochester Traffic Stop Leads to Cocaine Bust, Drug Charge Against Rochester Man
39-year-old Jerry Timothy Brown, Jr. of Rochester is charged with one count of second-degree drug possession.
The complaint says Rochester police detectives on patrol began following Brown Jr. after seeing him driving with a canceled license in the area of 11th Ave. and 4th St. SE around 3:15 Thursday afternoon.
The detectives then initiated a traffic stop after seeing the vehicle Brown Jr. was driving had a malfunctioning taillight, the court document says.
Upon making contact, one of the detectives detected a marijuana odor coming from the vehicle and saw a half-burnt marijuana blunt in the vehicle. The complaint also says Brown Jr. produced an open bag of marijuana.
A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of cocaine that weighed four grams with packaging, according to the court document. A digital scale with cocaine residue was also found in the vehicle.
Detectives then arrested Brown Jr. and informed him he would face additional charges if more drugs were found on him during the jail booking process, according to the complaint.
Brown Jr. then admitted to stashing more cocaine in his groin area. The cocaine found on Brown Jr. weighed 22.9 grams with packaging, the complaint says.
Brown Jr. was released without bail following his first court appearance Friday morning. He is due back in court next month.
