Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Burnsville man has been sentenced to 65 months in prison for a first-degree drug conviction stemming from a traffic stop near Pine Island last summer.

24-year-old Abdimajid Mohamed entered a guilty plea to the charge earlier this month through a plea agreement that led to the dismissal of two second-degree drug charges. Mohamed also admitted to a misdemeanor DWI charge that resulted in a 90-day jail sentence that has already been satisfied through credit for the time he has spent in jail since his arrest.

The criminal complaint in the case says Mohamed admitted to a State Trooper that he had taken some fentanyl about two hours before he was pulled over along Highway 52 last August. During the traffic stop, the State Trooper discovered Mohamed was wanted on an outstanding warrant and took him into custody.

After their arrival at the Olmsted County Adult Detention Center, Mohamed was being searched during the booking process and more than 800 counterfeit oxycodone pills were found in his possession. Court records indicate those pills later tested positive for fentanyl.

Mohamed was also arrested in April of last year in Burnsville after he was caught carrying 600 suspected fentanyl pills and a handgun. According to court documents, the arrest occurred after a Burnsville Police Officer went to investigate a car that had expired license tabs and numerous bullet holes in the windshield.
