Trial Date Scheduled in Rochester Murder Case

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A trial date has been set for a Rochester teenager charged with murder.

The Olmsted County Court Calendar currently indicates jury selection is scheduled to begin March 15th for 19-year-old Robert Salley's trial on charges stemming from a fatal shooting earlier this year. He faces one count of second-degree murder and two weapons-related charges.

Salley was arrested in January after he allegedly shot and killed 24-year-old Trevor Boysen in the parking lot of an apartment complex located near the Rochester Community and Technical College campus. According to the criminal complaint, a security camera video shows Salley getting into a car in the parking lot, and then after exiting the vehicle, firing a gun at the car. The video also shows the victim climb out of the car before he collapsed on the pavement.

Police found a half dozen shell casings at the scene. The motive for the murder, as stated by police investigators, was apparently the result of a "drug deal gone bad."

Salley remains in the Olmsted County jail where he is being held on $2 million bail. His next scheduled court appearance is a pretrial hearing on March 4th.
