MAPLE GROVE, Minn. (AP) — The woman who crashed her car into a retention pond in St. Louis Park, killing two of five children in the vehicle, will serve 30 days in the workhouse.

Twenty-four-year-old Marion Guerrido pleaded guilty to driving without a license and failing to restrain children in a car seat. Guerrido will also serve one year of probation.

Guerrido was driving northwest on Highway 7 toward Highway 100 on a damp roadway last year when she lost control of the car and it careened into the pond. Guerrido escaped and yelled for help, but the five children were trapped inside as the car sank in the water. Passers-by unsuccessfully tried to rescue the children before police arrived.
