Two Fatal Crashes in Under 12 Hours on Minnesota Roads
Undated (KROC-AM News)- The State Patrol responded to at least two fatal crashes in under 12 hours on Minnesota’s roads.
The first fatality occurred Tuesday afternoon and second happened early Wednesday morning. One person was killed in each crash.
First responders were dispatched to the first deadly crash on Hwy. 53 just north of Orr, which is about 50 miles southeast of International Falls, shortly after 2:30 p.m.
The state crash report indicates a southbound car crossed the centerline and entered the northbound lane of the two-lane highway where it collided head on with an oncoming semi truck.
The car driver is described as a 30-year-old man from Clearbrook, MN. His name has not been released.
37-year-old Geoffrey Norman Springer of Isle, MN was identified as the truck driver. He was not hurt.
The State Patrol responded to the second fatal crash in the Twin Cities shortly after midnight Wednesday morning. It happened on Hwy. 61 in Cottage Grove where a northbound car lost control and crashed into the median at Manning Ave.
A passenger in the vehicle, described as a woman from El Salvador, lost her life in that crash. Her name has not been released. The driver, identified as 35-year-old Isai Eleazar Melara Huezo of St. Paul was not hurt.
Alcohol was not involved in the Twin Cities fatality, the crash report says. Road conditions were not a factor in either deadly crash, according to the State Patrol.
