Update: Driver Hurt in Rochester-Area Van Rollover Involving 5 Kids
Elgin, MN (KROC-AM News)- The State Patrol has released more information regarding a single-vehicle crash involving five children during Tuesday’s winter weather outburst in southeast Minnesota.
The preliminary report indicated a full-size van was driving west on Highway 247 about 2 miles east of Highway 63 north of Rochester when the van left the roadway and rolled in the ditch.
The roadway was covered by snow and ice when the crash occurred around 8:30 AM.
On Tuesday night, the State Patrol identified the van driver as 32-year-old Brianna Joleen Dubbels of Planview. She was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Five children were inside of the van at the time of the rollover. The 4-year-old, 6-year-old, 8-year-old, 10-year-old and 11-year-old escaped the crash without any injuries.
The report indicates the 8-year-old was not buckled up. Alcohol was not involved in the crash.
The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office, Elgin Fire Department and Elgin Ambulance also responded to the single-vehicle crash.
