Altura, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Winona County Sheriff's Office has released information concerning a tragic mishap that claimed the life of a rural Winona County man.

Sheriff Ron Granrude says deputies responded to an address north of Altura shortly before 6 PM on Sunday after dispatchers received a 911 call from a person reporting a fatal accident involving a vehicle that had rolled onto a person. The first deputy to arrive at the scene verified that the victim had already died.

Sheriff Granrude says a passerby found 67-year-old Gary Donlinger of rural Altura under his pickup truck. It was apparently experiencing transmission problems and rolled onto the man while he was working on the vehicle.

The deadly incident occurred at a property along Winona County Road 31 near Trout Drive about 6 miles north of Altura and 3 miles east of Minneiska.
