Woman Killed When Motorist Flees Bloomington Police
Bloomington, MN (KROC-AM News) - A police chase in the Twin Cities led to a fatal traffic crash Saturday afternoon.
The Minnesota State Patrol says the pursuit began just before 3:30 pm when a Bloomington police officer spotted a car being driven carelessly at a high rate of speed and attempted a traffic stop. The motorist sped away through a red light and crashed into another car before smashing into a semaphore at the intersection.
The passenger in the speeding car, 24-year-old Sondra Heger of Rockford, was killed. The 27-year-old Blaine man driving the car, Nicholas Lowers, was arrested on multiple charges, including criminal vehicular homicide and possession of a stolen vehicle.
The State Patrol says the woman driving the second car was not injured.
