Work Resuming on $9.7 Million Silver Lake Park Upgrades
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Fencing is being erected this week around portions of Silver Lake Park and the old swimming pool area as the first phase of Rochester's Silver Lake Park improvement project is set to continue.
A news release says the key projects for phase one involve a new aquatics area, an upgraded playground, and indigenous gathering area. The list also includes an expanded skate park, a new basketball court, and renovated park shelters.
"Silver Lake Park is an important space for the community and these improvements will enhance recreation opportunities for residents of all ages," said Park Planner Jeff Feece. "We appreciate the patience from residents as construction continues and we look forward to unveiling these exciting updates."
The price tag for the first phase of the project is about $9.7 million. City officials said the funding is coming from revenues produced by the 2020 City Park Referendum, along with additional appropriations approved by the Rochester City Council, and various grants.

The news release indicates vehicular traffic should not be affected, but access to sidewalks in the affected areas of the park will be restricted
