100 mph Driver Flees Olmsted County Deputies, Arrested After Rochester Crash
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- A Rochester man is in custody after fleeing a deputy who spotted him traveling over 100 mph in rural Rochester over the weekend.
That’s according to Olmsted County Sheriff’s Captain Tim Parkin. The alleged fleeing incident occurred around 9:15 Saturday night.
Parkin said deputies attempted to stop a vehicle about four miles east of Rochester traveling at 106 mph in a 55 mph zone in the 7100 block of Collegeview Rd. East/Olmsted County Rd. 9.
The driver did not stop and deputies discontinued the pursuit, Parkin said. A short time later, deputies found the suspect vehicle had crashed at the roundabout intersection of Collegeview Rd. East and Energy Pkwy. northeast.
The suspect then fled on foot and was captured with the assistance of the Rochester Police Department, Parkin said. He is identified as 46-year-old Joseph Rabe.
Authorities arrested Rabe on suspicion of DWI, Speeding, and Fleeing in a motor vehicle. He was first taken to St. Mary’s Hospital to be evaluated.
